SIAL is the world's leading food fair, which takes place once a year in Paris and is open to trade visitors only. As a global business platform, the fair is the showcase for innovations and connects food manufacturers, distributors, importers, wholesalers and retailers, as well as representatives of institutional and commercial catering under one roof. Exhibitors from all over the world are meeting at SIAL to present their products, innovations and technologies and to give an overview of the industry. To the SIAL also belongs the In-Food Centre. Here especially semi-finished products, ingredients and equipment and systems for the food processing are shown. In addition, the issues of sustainability and sustainable development in relation to environmental, economic and social aspects are becoming increasingly important for the fair. Companies representing a sustainable approach, are peculiar highlighted at the fair to reflect this aspect. Furthermore SIAL includes the area La Cuisine, the most important meeting place for the food-service industry with culinary live demonstrations, a VIP restaurant and a culinary photo exhibition.
On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 5 days of the fair, from 19. October to 23. October 2014, about 6500 exhibitors from 104 countries and 155766 visitors from 194 countries on the SIAL in Paris.
